You stayed the night with us on Saturday night. It was a lot of fun--you helped us babysit our neighbor's kids, and you're getting better and better about interacting with them. You were so sweet helping to feed the baby, or entertain him while I got his bottle ready, etc. And you and the little boy enjoyed some popcorn and a movie together.
You slept relatively seizure-free. Turns out, at least lately, that if you sleep propped up so you're almost sitting, you don't have anything worse than the regular leg tremors and sometimes an arm. But nothing like you've been having the last few weeks. (They've been BAD. Like, 3 nights in the ER because you're turning blue BAD. And if they don't make you stop breathing, they terrify you enough that you are screaming bloody murder. It breaks all of our hearts.) But I prayed HARD and watched you carefully all night long--and slept in the same bed--and you had a pretty peaceful night's sleep. It was SUCH a blessing.
On Sunday, we did your hair up cute and fun. At church, a family gave you a box of clothes--you were SO excited! So we made some thank-you cards after church for the family...and you wrote your Great-Grandpa Hall and Great-Grandma Karen each a short letter, to boot. :)
Then we went to family dinner at Dad's. And we learned that it was a GOOD THING you were with us this weekend! Your mom's/Aunt Charissa's/Grandma Linda's apartment CAUGHT FIRE Saturday night! Well, the apartment above them, anyway. Someone had "fallen asleep" after putting a pan with grease on the stove. It was a bad fire--the whole apartment was gutted, and they lost a family dog. But if you'd been there? Not only did the firemen pound hard on the door in the middle of the night (which would have triggered a grand mal for you in and of itself), but then no one got any sleep until almost 6 am because they had to sit in the car until they were allowed back in, then spent two hours airing out the place...and the heat got turned off/cut through and didn't come back on until almost noon the next day. I'm SO grateful that you were with us that night--it allowed the adults in the apartment to work worry-free and it allowed YOU to sleep safe and sound all night long.
It's the little things, Caida. We are so blessed in the little things!
The Lord moves in mysterious ways!
Love,
Aunt Celeste
